Good day divas and dudes!!!

I love art, especially art that imitates life.  I think that it is so cool to see the artist interpretation of what is real.  It is a reminder that just like beauty, life is in the eye of the beholder too.

I recently became familiar and obsessed with a artist by the name of Jonquel Norwood. When I tell you that this girl gives me life, I mean that literally.  She recently shared some illustrations of different blogger including myself and I just love them all.  However, her dope works; QueenLife and The Pharaoh are my absolute favorites.

My name is Jonquel Norwood and I am an illustrator who does body positive plus size fashion illustration. I was born and raised in a small city outside of New Orleans which is where I discovered artistry and my love for art. After hurricane Katrina, I moved to Atlanta to finish my college degree.  I studied illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I was first introduced to fashion while living in Atlanta, but I noticed that my style and body type was not always represented in fashion.  After I graduated college I soon realized I wanted to go on an adventure.  I thought New York could be the first step, but I had no clue I would ever move to New York.  Things happened and the opportunity came where I had the chance to move to New York.  I moved to New York in the winter and everyone was bundled up and snow was everywhere, but then spring came.  I noticed everyone had their own style and expressed themselves through fashion in a way I had never seen before.  While looking on social media I discovered Full Figure Fashion week and my world was changed forever.  I noticed women with my body type wearing bold and expressive fashion and I fell in love.  I fell in love with the attitudes, the styling, and the movement of loving me.  I had to put my new found love on paper and express what I was seeing.  I was seeing body positive women loving themselves and not feeling ashamed and I wanted to illustrate that feeling to the world.
Below, you will find  Jonquel’s illustrations of some of my favorite curvy girls.  Also for more of Jonquel work and to purchase goodies, check her out at jonquel.com.
