(Singing) Because I don’t want to lose your love (in my Sharon Quinn voice)!! Last night was the official kick off of Full Figured Fashion Week®and I have say, it started great! As I have stated on several occasions, this year Gwen DeVoe decided to add several new events to the schedule, Curvy Cabaret was on of those additions. I have to say, that it was a great decision, based on the turn out and the vibe.If last night was any indication of what is to come, this year’s Full Figured Fashion Week® will be EPIC!
Curvy Cabaret was hosted by The Queen of Gospel Energy Dawn Tallman. There were also live fashion illustrations by JonquelArt. Oh and did I mention the performances? Yes!! The performances were amazing and there was a surprise performance that gave me all of my life. When I tell you The Original Runway Diva, Sharon Quinn did her thing… BELIEVE ME, SHE DID HER THING!
In addition to Sharon, there were open mic performances by; Vin-Keatin, Laila Patrice, Danielle Martin, Jamal St. John, Irene Blackman, Jamal Milligan, Lisa Fostor Wilson, Inkwell J., Kay Soul, Rajdulari, Stephanie Mallick, Sally Ann Thibedeau, Emicia Parker and Madelyne Brene. Some sang and some did poetry but they all rocked the mic in a major way and they kept the crowd entertained. We sang, danced and didn’t care who was watching but no one was watching because they were too busy dancing and singing too.
The room was filled (literally) with Influencers from the plus size community who came to celebrate the beginning of Full Figured Fashion Week® 2016 and celebrate is what we did. Tamara Ivey from Ashley Stewart made an emotional speech about the support that FFFWeek® has provide for Ashley Stewart and the community as a whole. Her speech put into prospective what the event really means not just for brands but everyone in the plus size community.
