7 Ways To Greet 2017 With Amazing Style

Hey PHAT girls!

Maui Bigelow of Phat Girl Fresh

We are almost at the finish line, this is the last PHAT girl Friday of 2016 (insert twerk)! If you are anything like me, I know that you are one happy camper because this year has been a rough one. From death, to broken relationships and please don’t forget that some of you elected Donald Trump POTUS; none of us can deny the fact that 2016 got uglier and uglier every single day.

Although I experienced much grief this year and encountered several bumps in the road, I must say that I also experienced great wins in 2016 too. No, the wins didn’t eliminate the losses but the losses helped me appreciate all the wins a whole lot more. My faith was tested and so was my patience; there were several times that I almost caught a case but… I MADE IT (well I have 1 more day)! However, in 2016 I learned that my voice was more vital and appreciated than I thought. I also gained a greater understanding and respect for my purpose; which led me to be more bold and unapologetic in every area of my life. Honestly, due to all that has transpired this year, I am eager, optimistic and ready to move into 2017 in my own personal style.

Style

noun \ˈstī(-ə)l\

a:  a distinctive manner of expression

b:  a distinctive manner or custom of behaving or conducting oneself

c:  a particular manner or technique by which something is done, created, or performed

Now I know when you hear the word style you think fashion and while I am here for fashion, that is not what I am talking about. I am talking about styling life! We all style our lives in a manner that reflects who we are and who we believe we can be. Just like fashion, a person’s life style is unique and it sets them apart; it also draws attention to them and makes an introduction to many before they utter a word. The way a confident woman styles her life will replicate that confidence in every area of her life; she may have moments of uncertainty but she will never allow it to halt her progress. However, show me a woman with low self-esteem and I will show you a woman whose life is styled in a manner that will never allow her to live to her full potential. Why? Because she has styled her life based on the fear and uncertainty that haunts her.

Because I am dedicated to doing the work and being an empowered woman, today I want to share.  Below you will find few ways to assist you with assuring that 2017 is greeted with unmatched style.

  1. Ditch your plan and pursue your purpose! Too often we think that our plans are the key to living a good life but the truth is it is our purpose. Once you find your purpose and operate in that space nothing can stop you.

  2. Believe! To slay life, you must believe that you can; doubt will defeat you quicker than your enemy.

  3. Be a goal digger! Set goals that are realistic and that will allow you to make your dreams a reality. Never allow people to make you feel that you are too ambitious… There is no such thing! SMART goals + proper execution = success

  4. Don’t give up! You can’t win if you aren’t strong enough to stay the course. The saying is true… Quitting is for losers! Remember, don’t take no for an answer and a delay is not a deny.

  5. Never dumb yourself down! You were not created to be anything other than great, never feel so obligated to anyone or anything that you compromise that greatness. You are only responsible for assuring that you live to your potential and that your light is brilliant, if the people around you are not comfortable… YOU ARE IN THE WRONG COMPANY!

  6. Be your sister, not her keeper! For you to style your life as an empowered woman, you must be willing to empower women. You must understand that you are your sister; her issues are your issues; her win is your win and her loss is your loss. While she can never mimic the way, you style your life, she can learn and grow from it.

  7. Do the work! Not one thing will work unless you do! Trust me, there are no short cuts, hook ups or handouts; a life styled with success and happiness in mind will only happen when you get up, get out and get something! So… Work Work Work Work Work (in my Rihanna voice)!

Because I want to see you style your life in a manner that will allow you to slay in every way, I have a gift for some lucky curvy girl! Yes, I am teaming up with Eloquii (one of my favorite brands) to contribute to your style. Like myself Eloquii understands that looking good and feeling good go hand in hand and we are enthusiastic about you doing both.

  3. Ty Sparks

    December 30, 2016

My plan to style Ty Sparks in 2017 is to stay positive!! I’ve noticed that I’ve put to much of my time and energy into negative situations in 2016. In return, every thing I’m associated with seems mediocre. From work, relationships, even the way I dressed!! Negative energy is a powerful force, but nothing can overpower positivity. So, no matter what POSITIVE VIBES ONLY. It only takes a little light to make a difference, and 2017 will be much brighter for me!!

I plan to style my life in 2017 with love and splendor. I’m going to dress up and go out more, and style my hair in a variety of ways. I’ve found some great bloggers so I am going to borrow from them. It’s all about being the unique, genuine, elegant, graceful woman that I am in 2017, and showing that on the outside.

I plan to stay true to who I am and what I love. I think as a blogger, you can often try to do what’s on trend instead of what you truly love, but this year, it’s all about what I truly truly love! Thank you for the awesome giveaway!

I am continuing my quest to celebrate myself and the joy and resilience of the human spirit that I share with others on the planet. I’ll start everyday with prayer and words of joy and encouragement to me and make it a point everyday to actively seek and respond to the joy in other people. The more I do it the better I feel!
