It is no secret the PHAT Girl Fresh is a feminine brand with a feminist voice. It is not only home to my thoughts and beliefs but a place to gather and share the views of other women. I created my platform in this manner because I know that there is much growth to experience and knowledge to obtain from one woman to another.
My beliefs about womanhood grew from the many seeds planted in my life as a girl. I experienced the most traumatic situation of my life but I remained encouraged because of the women who nurtured me and the women who I watched as I transitioned into womanhood. Because of these women, what could have destroyed me led me to my purpose and made me the woman I am today.
Even now as a woman who has found her purpose, I still look to other women for encouragement and guidance as I travel through this thing called life. I learned early on that you can learn a lot from the way a person style their life and because of this… I now pay close attention to every woman I encounter. She may not have the same social status, we may have different views and she may style her life in a way that is unfavorable to myself and others but I know that she has something to contribute that I can absorb.
Watching the way other women style their lives is what led me to structure the brand’s annual in the manner in which I did, it is also why I named the event PHAT Girl Fresh Presents Life Styled. More than celebrating the brand’s anniversary, I wanted to use the event to honor women who styled their lives in a manner which proved to be a source of empowerment for themselves and other women. I wanted women to know that their strengths and hard work were not going unnoticed and I also wanted women who looked to them as a source of empowerment to experience being in their presence.
Like all the years’ prior, this year I am excited to honor a group of women who answered the call of millions of women and girls. These are women who have committed themselves to doing the work of empowered women by styling their lives in a way that empowers other women. I feel obligated to salute these women because they exhibit all the characteristics of a women who are PHAT Girl Fresh; passionate, happy, appreciative and true. Oh, YES… they slay life and look damn good doing it!
Well, I guess I should pour up the tea because I have brewed it long enough! Below you will find the 2017 Life Styled Honorees, and I am sure you will agree that their lives are styled to slay!
