I think that a lot of times fat/plus size women are afraid to be who they really are, not because of what they lack but due to what society says. We all know that plus size individuals are viewed through a lens that distorts our truth drastically. Society has done such a number on plus size individuals that we shame and throw shade at one another just as effortlessly as others do. Why? Because at some point, we begin believing society’s lies and many times carry those lies with us as we navigate through the game of life. Well, I am here to save the day and let all my fat girls know, you can forget playing tag (or any other games) because you been it sis!
Show of hands, how many of you have felt too fat based solely on someone else’s observation of you? Honestly, I have felt that way more time than I can count on both hands. Now that I am wiser and could care less, it seems stupid, but back then, it was as if what others thought about my size was more a matter of fact than merely an opinion. What makes it sad is that these thoughts produce self-hate, which is something that is spreading and smelling like muck in the plus size community. This is why there are so many negative comments by plus size women under the post of other plus size women on social media. Like really sis, society has you so messed up that you see a woman whose image is similar to yours and you hate her… DAMN!
Now I know that you have heard the saying, “when you know better, you do better,” but I believe that more is required. I live by the proverb, “Know better, do better, teach better.” I share my stories, experiences, and the truth as I see it because I feel responsible, especially since I know that my purpose is directly connected to women and girls. Listen, you will not fall by the waist side on my watch unless you choose to, and even then, my entire foot will be up your butt.
Speaking of feet, I plan to keep my foot on your necks all summer. Your either out here showing out with me or you are against me. We are not just keeping it cute or dumbing ourselves down for society. It is our time to do the absolute most regardless of what that looks like for you. Understand that you have what it take to do whatever you want, so do that.
