Since Harvard professor Laurel Thatcher Ulrich coined the phrase, “Well-behaved women seldom make history,”in the 1970s, those words have become a slogan for women/ girls hoping to break the mold. One of those women being me. Now I have heard the quote many times over the years with both Marilyn Monroe and Eleanor Roosevelt being credited as making the statement. However, everyday I seem to understand it more.
I am a person who dances to the beat of her own drummer. When the crowd is going left I make a quick right. Not that I am trying to go against others but because I embrace my individuality. I talk to women all the time who want so much and dream so big but live so small all because they are afraid to be different or ruffle a few feathers. Listen honey, everyone will not like you, everyone will not agree with you or your actions and you should not care. Those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind; remember that.
When you live in the box you only impact what is going on in the box, it is when you step outside of it that you can impact the world. Yes you will have naysayers (haters), Yes, they will try to destroy you but they won’t be able to because what God has for you, is for you. So, step out of that box and into your destiny!!! The revolution will be televised and documented; the question is, will your name be mentioned?
